Tracey Hower has been an associate attorney with Mevorah Law Offices LLC since 2009. Ms. Hower brings her extensive and seasoned business background to her family law and bankruptcy practices. Having been an Operations Manager for a fortune 500 company, among others, Ms. Hower utilizes her business acumen to handle complex family law matters including valuation and division of corporate or other business assets. Ms. Hower has a proven track record in contested divorce, custody, visitation, child support, paternity, and post decree cases in DuPage, Kane, and Kendall Counties.

Ms. Hower, who is also admitted to practice in federal court, additionally practices in the areas of immigration and bankruptcy. Having experience in Family Law, Bankruptcy and Immigration has proven invaluable to many of Ms. Hower’s clients that have intertwining issues in two or more of these areas at the same time. Being able to guide a client as to the importance of the timing of filing certain Petitions, whether relating to Bankruptcy while going through a divorce or Immigration while going through a divorce gives her client’s the confidence that they need while going through challenging and difficult times.

At Mevorah Law Offices LLC, Ms. Hower is compassionate about her clients' needs and advocates for her clients vigorously both in the courtroom and with opposing counsel during negotiations, never losing sight of what is important to her clients. Ms. Hower takes the time to find out what is important to her clients, gets a perspective of the entire case, and uses her negotiation and litigation experiences to creatively and successfully advocate for her clients.

One of Tracey's success stories includes a Hague Convention on International Child Abduction case:

A mother of two fled the abuse of her husband from Canada to the United States with her two young daughters. The child’s father hired a prominent family law firm in Chicago and convinced a federal judge to send the U.S. Marshals to take this child from her mother’s home in the early morning hours. Having just had her child taken by Federal Marshals, the mother came to Mevorah Law Offices LLC for help. Attorneys Tracey Hower and Bradley Giglio within 13 days prepared and went to trial before a Federal Judge in Chicago. The Judge, disregarded the domestic abuse and the fact that the mother and her children had lived in Illinois for the past eleven months and held that the father should retain custody of the child and the matter should be heard in Canada. Attorneys Hower and Giglio did not accept this Judge’s opinion. Instead, they filed an appeal in the 7th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals and obtained an emergency stay that prevented the father from leaving the country with the child. The 7th Circuit, after reviewing expedited briefs and oral argument, entered an order for the child to be returned to our client. It was the dedication and experience of Attorneys Hower and Giglio that saved the day. The case that was successfully orally argued by Attorney Giglio was remanded to the trial court for further findings and rulings. The case was published and can be found at 680 F.3d 781.
